Michael Jordan donates $10M to Make-A-Wish for 60th birthday

Michael Jordan, six-time NBA champion, turns 60 on Friday and is celebrating by giving $10 million to Make-A-Wish in honor of the occasion.

In the organization’s 43-year existence, this is by far the greatest gift made by a single person.

By choosing to donate to Make-A-Wish in lieu of gifts, Jordan hopes to encourage people to help grant the wishes of children like him who are still waiting.

Jordan stated in a press statement that he was grateful for the opportunity to work with Make-A-Wish for the past 34 years. Seeing how they’ve handled this crisis with such courage and determination has been an inspiration.

The NBA team the Charlotte Hornets that Jordan currently owns gave their first donation to Make-A-Wish in 1989 thanks to Jordan’s involvement with the organization.

He is still one of the most sought-after celebrities because he has granted the dreams of children all over the world. Due to the “life-changing influence he has had on wish kids and their families,” Make-A-Wish designated him Chief Wish Ambassador in 2008.

One of Jordan’s birthday wishes was to have more people support Make-A-Wish so that every kid might have their wish granted.
