Barcelona’s Sergio Aguero diagnosed with a heart issue

Barcelona forward Sergio Aguero has been diagnosed with cardiac arrhythmia, which was discovered after he was admitted to the hospital on Saturday. Aguero was taken off in Barca’s game against Deportivo Alaves after he complained about breathing difficulties during the match.

Now, reports have indicated that the Argentine has cardiac arrhythmia, which is a heart rhythm frequency disorder. Aguero will reportedly be under observation for the next few days.

“Sergio Aguero will remain under the watchful eye of medical professionals over the next few days after suffering a heart scare against Alaves on Saturday night. The Argentine, after jumping for the ball up against defender Victor Laguardia, felt a pain in his chest and had to leave the field of play in the first half. The former Manchester City striker was taken to hospital in an ambulance to receive immediate medical checkups, and will now have to complete a full heart check to discover the full extent of the issue,” said the report.

The 33-year-old reportedly had a high heart rate after being moved to the hospital from the stadium. The Argentine had complained of dizziness minutes before halftime during the game. After being treated by the club doctors on the ground, he was moved to a local hospital. Aguero’s family have visited him and gave waiting for media person thumbs up to indicate that the Argentine is on the mend.

Aguero has reportedly had arrhythmia previously in his career. The Argentinian felt the pain when fighting for an aerial ball in the game against Alaves.

The Barca striker has had several injury issues since joining the Catalan club in the summer from Manchester City. Moving to the club on a free transfer, the 33-year-old has featured just five times for Barcelona, with four of those appearances coming in the league.

He got his first goal for the club in the match against arch-rivals Real Madrid, but the Catalans lost the game 2-1. Barca, who is without a coach following the sacking of Ronald Koeman, is currently ninth on the La Liga table, nine points behind league leaders Real Sociedad.

The club has had a number of injury issues this season and Aguero’s absence adds to the mounting injury concerns. Gerard Pique, Frenkie de Jong, Ansu Fati, Ousmane Dembele, and Sergi Roberto are a few other first-team stars that have been absent due to injury.

Aguero will likely be on the sidelines for the next few matches before he gets the go-ahead from the Barca medical team.
