In a story right out of a Hollywood movie, a Paris Saint-Germain footballer reportedly hired goons to attack her teammate to take her place in the team. PSG midfielder Aminata Diallo has been taken into custody by French police after it was revealed that goons attacked her teammate Kheira Hamraoui.
Diallo was in the car with Hamraoui when the goons she hired attacked their car. Following the attack, Hamraoui needed medical treatment, which put her out of contention for PSG’s match against Real Madrid, and Diallo took her place in the team.
The attackers reportedly hit Hamraoui’s legs and hands multiple times, while Diallo was uninjured during the attack. PSG released a statement confirming the assault on Hamraoui by masked men on November 4, 2021.
“Paris Saint-Germain notes the detention this morning of Aminata Diallo by the SRPJ (police) in Versailles in connection with an ongoing investigation into the assault on Thursday night of players from the club. Paris St-Germain condemns in the strongest possible terms the violence committed.
“Since Thursday evening, the club has taken all necessary measures to guarantee the health, wellbeing, and safety of its entire women’s team. Paris Saint-Germain is working with the Versailles Police to clarify the facts. The club is paying close attention to the progress of the proceedings and will study what action to take,” said the statement by the French club.
The pair were returning home after a team dinner when they were pulled out of their car and attacked by masked men using iron rods. Their car was nearing Hamraoui’s home when they were dragged out and assaulted, resulting in the 31-year-old requiring stitches to her hands and legs.
The midfielder is an experienced footballer, who returned to PSG this summer from Barcelona. She previously had a four-year stint with the club before moving to Lyon and then the Catalan side.
Hamraoui is also a French international, playing 36 times for her national team. Incidentally, Diallo replaced the 31-year-old in the French squad last time around after she had to pull out due to an injury.
PSG is the reigning French women’s league champion, narrowly beating arch-rivals Lyon to win the title last year. The Parisian club is once again in contention for the league title and is level on points with Lyon at the top of the table. The two sides will meet for the first time this season on Sunday when PSG travels to Parc Olympique Lyonnais to play Lyon.
