Nats’ Soto says MRI showed no damage to injured left calf

MRI results on Juan Soto’s calf after he was taken out of Sunday’s game against the Miami Marlins indicated no damage, and he intends to monitor the issue day by day.

Everything was OK, as Soto assured everyone. The future seems bright for us. As a result, they advised me to wait a couple of days before proceeding.

Soto did not start for Washington on Monday, but he pinch hit and walked in the eighth inning.

After making a throw to right field in the top of the third inning on Sunday, the 23-year-old star felt some tightness behind his left knee and in his leg. After sprinting the bases and getting into a rundown in the bottom of the fourth inning, he left the field.

“It didn’t feel good, so I just decided to get out of the game and make sure everything was okay before I kept playing and made it worse,” Soto said. It’s not a good idea to get kicked out of the game so easily. I wanted to put myself out there and give it my all, so I decided to give it a go.”

Soto’s eight-game hitting streak ended on Sunday. The Nationals have every right to be extremely cautious when it comes to signing a long-term contract with the team’s face.

Before he had the MRI, teammates were worried about Soto, but he’s already showing signs of improvement.
