Juan Soto traded to Padres; Nationals get big prospect haul
When the San Diego Padres added superstar Juan Soto to a lineup headed by All-Star Manny Machado and ready to welcome back flamboyant Fernando Tatis Jr., they left no mystery about their intended destination.
October is already in full swing. Even in November, I’d say.
Soto, a standout outfielder for the Washington Nationals who is one of the game’s top young hitters, and switch-hitting first baseman Josh Bell were acquired by A.J. Preller at the trade deadline in one of baseball’s most significant moves ever.
Prospects MacKenzie Gore, first baseman Luke Voit, C.J. Abrams, Robert Hassell III, and Jarl Susana were all part of the deal that sent Washington back to the Minor Leagues.
The Padres think it was a good investment of resources.
Whether or if the excitement translates into a World Series appearance is an open question.
