Coe Urges to Persuade Japan That Tokyo Olympics Will Be Safe

There’s been a lot of animosity from the general public in Japan to hold the Olympics next month. However, World Athletics leader Sebastian Coe said that Olympic sports must do more to help ensure that Japanese people know that the games are taking the proper safety protocols Here are the highlights:

• Public opinion is to cancel the games on July 23rd. However, Coe said thousands of hours have been put in to create the right health protocols.
• Coe further says this opposition to the games is a daily thing. 
• With 11,000 athletes and thousands more coaches, judges, officials, media, and other staff members, they have very strict guidelines in place for testing, contacting, and transporting to help keep everyone safe. 
• Coe himself is a two-time Olympic champion runner. He said that he’s never known an event with so much thought put into the safety of others before it began.
• In an online meeting with members of the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations (ASOIF), he said that more emphasis should be put on recognizing the amount of work put into creating a safe environment for the games. 
• This could help put a little bit more faith in the public.
• Despite the public concern, ASOIF president Francesco Ricci Bitti said this Olympics is widely praised as among the best for the sports side of things.
