Bills safety Damar Hamlin is breathing on his own

The Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin, who went into cardiac arrest and was resuscitated on the field during Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals, is now breathing on his own and able to communicate after having his breathing tube removed, according to his agent on Friday.

According to a tweet by the Bills, Hamlin participated in Friday’s team meeting via FaceTime and told his teammates, “love you lads.” Team statement: “neurologic function remains intact and he has been able to converse to his family and care team.”

In a text message provided to the AP first thing on Friday morning, agent Ira Turner said he had no further information to share. The Athletic was the first to report the news.
