Russell Wilson gets 5-year, $245M extension from Broncos

Before he even throws a snap for the Denver Broncos, Russell Wilson’s five-year, $245 million agreement contains a $50 million signing bonus, $77 million in the first eight months, and a stunning $165 million in guarantees.

Wilson did, however, pass up the opportunity to reshape the NFL’s astronomical quarterback market.

Wilson remarked on Thursday, “For me, it wasn’t really about how much, necessarily. “How many Super Bowls did we win? That was the question. And on that we really concentrated.

Wilson, 33, will remain under contract with Denver through the 2028 season for $296 million thanks to the deal. It is one of the largest contracts in NFL history and the largest contract in Broncos history.

Wilson didn’t want to put George Paton at a disadvantage when he assembled his team around him. In order to stay in Green Bay, he agreed to a four-year, $200 million agreement, which cost him $49 million on average in new money. This is $1 million less than Aaron Rodgers agreed to.

Wilson’s contract is the third most lucrative in the NFL in terms of the crucial guaranteed element, trailing only Deshaun Watson’s completely guaranteed $230 million deal with Cleveland and Kyler Murray’s $189.5 million in guarantees from his five-year, $230.5 million deal with Arizona.
